It’s been a hot minute since my last update (life happened, again 🤪),but I’m back—armed with spilled coffee, stray LEGO bricks underfoot, and fresh lessons about structure. Turns out, I thought I was a “Type‑A queen”… then I got married, moved to Germany, and had a baby. Plot twist: I’m more “Type‑Attempting”!
The Bible reminds us, “Let all things be done decently and in order.” (1 Cor 14:40) That “all things” includes our day‑to‑day chaos: meeting deadlines, keeping tiny humans alive, and yes—remembering where you left the remote. So here’s how I’m finding my groove again.
Start and end your day with clear routines—so the house doesn’t melt down. Morning and evening rhythms reduce stress and help everyone know what needs to be done. This could be something as simple as preparing lunches in the morning and resetting the living space or laying out tomorrow’s outfits in the evening.
2. Plan your time off intentionally
Instead of using all your vacation days at once, consider spreading them across the year. A few long weekends can offer valuable moments to pause, reflect, and reset—especially while the kids are at school.
3. Plan your mealsÂ
I keep a two-week rotating meal plan—it’s not fancy, but it works. It cuts out daily decision-making, keeps shopping simple, and answers the constant question: “What’s for dinner?” (A very real one in our house!)
4. Automate what you can
To my fellow African women—yes, the dishwasher is worth it! It saves time, energy, and water. Tools that support your home life are not indulgences; they are practical solutions. Little things like that make a huge difference, especially when your plate is full—literally and figuratively.
5. Use your calendar
There’s no need to carry everything in your head. Put your appointments, reminders, and even self-care into your calendar; it helps ensure that nothing slips through the cracks. Give your mind space to breathe, dream, and be creative.
6. Batch your tasks
Try grouping similar tasks—emails, errands, laundry—into a single focused time block. This approach is more efficient and helps reduce the feeling of always being “behind.”
These practices aren’t about perfection—they’re about being intentional. Life has many moving parts, and structure simply helps us move through it with more peace and clarity.
Wishing you a purposeful and well-organized weeken ahead.
